Háj – Nicovô
Forest Park Háj-Nicovô, towering above Liptovský Mikuláš, is an ideal place for family walks and active relaxation. Thanks to the asphalt road it is easily accessible by car (parking is also available) and there is also a popular cycling route from the city, what will make happy all lovers of two wheels. The Háj-Nicovô hill has been transformed into an urban forest park with new trails, educational boards and a children’s playground, which makes it a great choice for a trip with children or an easy walk with pram. Especially beautiful is in autumn, when the colourful palette of foliage enhances the experience of the walk, and the vast meadows are also perfect at this time of year for flying kites.
The dominant feature of Hája-Nicovô is the extensive military cemetery and memorial to the fallen soldiers of the 1st. Czechoslovak Army Corps, who fought in the heavy battles for Liptovský Mikuláš during the Second World War. This place of remembrance with the largest war cemetery of Czechoslovak soldiers on the territory of the former Czechoslovakia offers not only a moment of quiet reflection on history, but also some of the most beautiful Prospects in Liptov. From the top you can enjoy a panoramic view of the reservoir Liptovská Mara, comb Low Tatras and the majestic shield of peak Kriváň and the Western Tatras. Háj-Nicovô is simply a place, where history connects, nature and active relaxation for the whole family.
